A week in Orlando, FL

Last week was great! Professionally. Went for a conference in Orlando, FL organized by one of our e-learning vendors - Skillsoft. It was such a great learning experience. I was really skeptical about e-learning because the response from our clients are generally lukewarm. We toyed with blended learning but again, did not really take off. The last week had me thinking that perhaps we aren't doing enough - not enough marketing and not enough knowledge about our products. So I happily seized an opportunity to expand my job scope. I am NOT sure if its a good thing but I am excited about it. I mean ... e-learning = internet = mobile ... it also means I might be able to work from home!

It's a pity that we were stuck in JFK for 5 hours without being able to explore NY.

Snapshots of my home

I mentioned earlier this week that we re-arranged some furniture/accessories/rugs last weekend. We are loving the fresh new look now but I reiterate, there's just so much to be done. Our home is taking forever to be completed. But deep down I know it'll never be finished 'cos I will always get brainwaves for as long as I peruse creative blogs and frequent cute places.

Like, earlier today, my team and I were hosting an event centred on Social Entrepreneurship at a little restaurant Food for Thought (FFT). It's the brainchild of a young lady and her friends who wanted to do more than just work. So they decided to start a social enterprise - basically a restaurant with a cause. For example, for every $2 we donate to enjoy free flow of water at FFT, we will bless one African for one year with that same privilege. I liked the simple, rustic decor and here they have an interesting story of their light installation with 540 ordinary food jars. This particular quote was displayed right smack in the middle of the wall, screaming at me That Every Man Should Eat & Drink & Enjoy the Good of All His Labour, it is the Gift of God - Ecclesiastes 3:13 and now I am tempted to have this quote scribbled across my kitchen backsplash.

Ah ♥. I've also decided to share some pictures of our home after shifting some items around.

Well, its not been too bad today. The day started off on a good note when I learnt that the former boss of my partner in crime at work tendered his resignation. Let's just put it this way, we were never impressed with the way he works. His resignation will also implicate former colleagues we are not big fans of. I know ... bitchy bitchy.

My team and I received compliments from our customers for an entire year's work. They complimented me specifically for competence and professionalism in organising the events, which totally made my day. They are very difficult customers but this calls for a celebration as I survived the entire year!

It also feels wonderful when we brighten up someone's day. I bought my team-mates some accessories from Forever21 and am glad they started wearing it immediately.

We are also 2 days away to the weekend! YIPEE *pop champagne*
